Welcome to Creatively Aging: Where We’re Just Getting Started

Now that I’m definitely into my sixties, I feel more and more a sense of change. I think we of a certain age often feel the things we’re experiencing due to accumulation of years are unique to us in some way and it’s often surprising when we find ourselves in situations where others our age are gathering for similar reasons.
I don’t know if that makes sense.
For example, I’m in the process of building a local marketing campaign using a certain platform and the developers were hosting a live support session on zoom so I had some questions and joined the call. As each caller came and went I began to realize everyone was of a certain age like me and it surprised me so many people were still out there trying to make new businesses and learning brand new things. I don’t know why it surprised me, but it did.
I’ve been a marketer, musician, maker, zine publisher, audio explorer, and a few things in between. But lately, I’ve come to realize something deeper: I’m not done. I’m not winding down. I’m not fading out. I’m creatively aging—and everywhere I look, I’m not alone.
Whether it’s on music forums, at local protests, or deep in the weeds of AI experiments or new business ideas, I keep meeting people around my age (and older) who are exploring, building, expressing, and yes, even rebelling. The flame hasn’t dimmed—it’s just burning in different colors now.
Creatively Aging is about that fire.
It’s a blog, podcast, book, and community—an evolving conversation for anyone who refuses to be boxed in by outdated ideas about what aging means. It’s for the folks starting second (or third, or fourth) acts. For those who are learning to paint, starting nonprofits, releasing albums, launching small businesses, caregiving by day and collaging by night. It’s for the curious, the brave, the messy.
You’ll find interviews with other creatively aging people, tools and tips for staying in motion, reflections on making art and meaning as we get older, and probably some offbeat experiments too (because creativity is rarely tidy).
So if you’re feeling a little bit restless, if you’re feeling like there’s still more for you to say or do or make—
You’re in the right place.
We’re not done. We’re just getting better at being ourselves.

Silver Creative is published by Briyan Frederick Baker (GAJOOB, Tapegerm Collective). It’s about living life creatively after 50 and aging gloriously (if not fabulously).
